200,000 children are abducted each year in the US - In 2008 99% of stolen vehicles equiped with GPS technology were recovered - Reports of missing persons have increased six fold in the past 25 years, from roughly 150,000 in 1980 to about 900,000 this year. The increase was driven in part by the country's growing population. But the numbers also indicate that law enforcement treats the cases more seriously now, including those of marginalized citizens.. - According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)'s Uniform Crime Reports, a motor vehicle is stolen in the United States every 26.4 seconds. The odds of a vehicle being stolen were 1 in 207. Every year in the U.S., more than 1.1 million vehicles are stolen. - The National Insurance Crime Bureau says that motorcycle theft rates have increased over 135% in the past 5 years, with approximately 70,000 motorcycles stolen in 2006.
