In today's tough economic climate, you need to protect what's valuable! Here are just a few of the statistics: 200,000 children are abducted each year in the US. Every year in the US alone, 800,000 children (younger than 18) go missing. An astounding 2,300 Americans are reported missing every day, including both adults and children. - Every year in the U.S., more than 1.1 million vehicles are stolen with an estimated value of approximately $7.4 billion dollars. According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports, a motor vehicle is stolen in the United States every 26.4 seconds. The odds of a vehicle being stolen are 1 in 207. - The National Insurance Crime Bureau says that motorcycle theft rates have increased over 135% in the past 5 years, with approximately 70,000 motorcycles stolen in 2006. - Over 95% of all boat thefts are package thefts that include trailer, boat, & motor. These statistics also apply to snow machines and personal watercraft. 10,000 watercraft are stolen annually WHILE IN THE WATER! & that figure increases to 27,000 when on a trailer or stored boats are counted. - Over 300,000 dogs and cats go missing every year and half of these normally never returned to their owners. More than 2,500 Dogs and 3,200 Cats go missing every week. - It is estimated that over 1.5 million bicycles are stolen every year. - A laptop is stolen every 53 seconds. Some of the largest and medium-sized U.S. airports report close to 750,000 laptops lost each year. Laptop theft accounted for 50% of reported security attacks according to CSI Reports in 2007. That's $750 million in lost laptops annually.

Here are just a few examples:

Parents of young children

Losing your child is every parent’s worst nightmare, and there are over 200,000 cases of missing children each year in the USA (Source: Amber alert Foundation). Happily, most children are found unharmed and reunited with their families, but the statistics alone don’t convey the worry that parents go through if they don’t know the whereabouts of their child.
You can take steps to help safeguard your child. The GPS Guardian enables you to locate them and the panic button allows your child to alert you if they are lost, in difficulty or in distress.

If the
SOS/Panic button is pressed and held down, a High Priority (HPN) alert will be sent to your nominated devices (e.g. mobile phone, PC or PDA) If you are concerned about your child and you don’t have access to the Web, just call us and our friendly  staff will perform a location search on your behalf.

Parents of teenage drivers

Parents of teenage drivers are nearly always concerned about the safety of these young drivers, especially in the first year of driving. Sadly, the statistics show that this is a valid concern:

  • 1 in 5 new drivers has a crash within 6 months of passing their test (Source: Driving Standards Agency).

  • An 18 year-old driver is over 3 times as likely to be involved in a crash as a 48 year-old. (Source: Driving Standards Agency).

Young drivers have a higher proportion of crashes in the evenings and early mornings. Between 2am and 5am, young male drivers are 17 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured in a road crash than male drivers of all ages (Source: Centre for Transport Studies, University College, London).

Parents are taking steps to encourage responsible driving by teenagers. In addition to ensuring that teenagers receive proper driving instruction and training, parents should also set ground rules for driving and make clear that driving is a privilege, dependent on driving safely and responsibly.

Parents can use The GPS Guardian to monitor teenage drivers’ actual driving behaviour:

  • Tracking a vehicle driven by a teenager will show where it is, as well as speed and direction of travel.

  • Set the Geofence to help restrict the driver to a specific geographical area. If the Geofence has been set and the vehicle strays outside of the pre-set radius, you will receive a High Priority Notification (HPN) alert on your nominated devices (e.g. mobile phone, PC or PDA). You can then call the driver on their mobile phone and advise them to return to the pre-set area.

  • Set the Excess Speed Alert and receive a HPN alert if the vehicle exceeds a pre-set speed for 30 seconds or more. You can then call the driver on their mobile phone and advise them to slow down.

Travellers and commuters

With over 1 million assaults in the UK in 2007 / 2008, and with 46% of women reported to feel “unsafe” or “very unsafe” walking alone after dark in their own area (Source: British Crime Survey), it is a sensible precaution to carry The GPS Guardian.

If you are in an unsafe or uncomfortable situation, press and hold down the panic button, and a High Priority Notification (HPN) alert will be sent to the nominated devices (e.g. mobile phone, PC or PDA) of family members or trusted friends, as well as to our service centre in the UK, which will call nominated people and, if desired, will also notify the emergency services.

For added peace of mind, you can also choose to give family members or trusted friends access to your account, to locate you if you are running late and they haven’t heard from you. If they don’t have access to the Web, they can call us, 24 hours a day, and our service centre staff in the UK will perform a location search on your behalf.

Laptop owners

As many people know to their cost, the portability that makes laptops so useful can also be their biggest drawback:

  • 1 in 10 laptops are stolen within the first 12 months of ownership (Source: Gartner Group).

  • Over 600,000 laptop thefts occur every year worldwide.

You can help protect your laptop or other valuable items of luggage by placing the small and concealable GPS Guardian unit in your laptop bag or other item of luggage. If you lose it or believe it has been stolen, you can either track it yourself (via PC or Web-enabled mobile device) or call us, 24 hours a day, and we will perform a location search on your behalf.

The GPS Guardian works worldwide, providing invaluable peace of mind to the frequent traveller.

Dog owners

Over 300 dogs are lost or abandoned every day in the UK (Source: NOP). Micro chipping is a very useful aid to recovering a lost dog, but the dog needs to be found first before the microchip can be read.

Setting The GPS Guardian’s Geofence will send you a High Priority Notification (HPN) alert you if your dog strays outside a pre-set area. You can then find him using the “locate” feature, using your PC or web-enabled mobile device.

If your dog has gone missing and you don’t have access to the Web, just call us, 24 hours a day, and our service centre staff in the UK will perform a location search on your behalf.
